"Some people only ask others to do something. Why should I wait for someone else? Why don’t I take a step and move forward." - Malala Yousafzai

How might we enhance graduate education to improve holistic management skills within students through a sustainable, impactful course curriculum?

As the number of engineering and management graduates keep on increasing in the country, we are facing a saturation leading to mass unemployment. Either those who are highly skilled get hired, or those who can perform as labourers get selected. Understanding the core of this situation is not having the freedom of choice of education, we decided to reach to the core of this problem. Many more problems related to the same issue of choice kept rising. Employability in companies remains at stake, as freshers have poor learning, innovative and decision making skills. In fact, corporate companies have started training their employees with Design Thinking to show an "innovative" employee base to their clients. Graduate education becomes some kind of a harsh punishment to those who can't keep up with the success of their peer. Understanding that a one or two day workshop has zero to none chances of impacting or training a person, it felt more relevant to have a longer course at the beginning of their careers, which is at their Graduate Education.

The purpose of education is to shape thinking of an individual. We have left that purpose aside and now education is about scoring jobs. We decided to take a step backwards to understand the role of Graduate education in a person's life. Conclusions were not shocking. Our thinking itself is corrupt from rigorous fact based information. This information capturing has taken over our process of learning through experiementation, curiosity and observatiion. That has resulted in unsatisfactory decisions taken by our leaders. Leaders at home, politics, work, cultures, everywhere. It is high time, that we restore the holistic management capabilities of the next generation. It will not only lead to better organisations and systems, but also to unique empathy-driven solutions. It will not only lead to less chaotic futures, but also much more happier.

After understanding learnings and experiences of 15 professionals and students, the problem was out there. The information gathered was separated into journey maps and importance maps to guide us towards defining the correct problem statement. We sat with Educational Specialists to come up with a uniquely designed concept of a lesson plan, to be taught in multiple levels for students to understand and be impacted by each aspect. The course is aimed at restoring holistic management and thinking within participants through the application of empathy, curiosity, decision making and creativity.
